Instructions for the Contributors

Thank you for your interest in contributing to SIMEC Bulletin. Please consult the following instructions to ensure that your contribution goes through the peer review and the publication processes smoothly.

Type of Contributions

Research Article/ Review Article

SIMEC Bulletin publishes research articles in multidisciplinary subjects. While preparing the research article, the author(s) should adhere to the following guidelines:

- The article must not exceed 6000 words including footnotes but excluding abstract, keywords, tables, figures and references

- Structure the article in the following order:

A title page containing the title of the article, an abstract of 150-200 words, a list of a maximum of six keywords; name, affiliation, email ID, and ORCID ID (if available) of the author(s); and a short biography of the author(s) of 50-100 words

The main text of the article. It should not reflect the author’s identity on any page.

Commentary

SIMEC Bulletin accepts commentaries of diverse forms and structures, which could be short essays reflecting personal opinions, or informed insights into an issue, event, topic, or phenomenon. The author(s) of the commentary should adhere to the following guidelines:

- The commentary must not exceed 2000 words including footnotes but excluding abstract, keywords, tables, figures and references

- Structure the article in the following order:

A title page containing the title of the article, an abstract of 100-150 words, a list of a maximum of six keywords; name, affiliation, email ID, and ORCID ID (if available) of the author(s); and a short biography of the author(s) of 50-100 words

The main text of the commentary. It should not reflect the author’s identity on any page.

Book Review

SIMEC Bulletin welcomes reviews of books spanning multiple disciplines. The author(s) of the book review should adhere to the following guidelines:

- The book review should be within 800-1000 words, and references should be kept minimum

- A title page containing the title of the review, and author details such the name, affiliation, email ID, and ORCID ID (if available) of the author(s), and a short biography of 50-100 words should be provided

- The main text of the review should not reflect the author’s identity on any page.

Policy Brief/ Policy Review

SIMEC Bulletin welcomes policy briefs that may include a concise summary of policy issues and recommendations for a specific course of action. It also welcomes policy reviews that may include critical assessment of existing policies—how they have been implemented, their effectiveness, unintended consequences, and recommendations for future reform/continuation. The author(s) of the policy brief/ policy review should adhere to the following guidelines:

- The policy brief/ policy review must not exceed 2000 words including footnotes but excluding abstract, keywords, tables, figures and references

- Structure the brief/ review in the following order:

A title page containing the title, an abstract of 100-150 words, a list of a maximum of six keywords; name, affiliation, email ID, and ORCID ID (if available) of the author(s); and a short biography of the author(s) of 50-100 words

The main text of the review. It should not reflect the author’s identity on any page.

Photo Story

SIMEC Bulletin welcomes photo stories from professional and non-professional photographers who want to portray social issues and problems, architectural sites, and natural phenomena through their photographs. The photographers should adhere to the following guidelines while submitting their photographs:

- A photographer can submit 4-5 photographs with appropriate short descriptions. Each description must not exceed 150 words. The image files should be numbered, and a separate Word file should contain the image descriptions, while maintaining consistency with those numbers. Use a title page to write the title of the photo story, the name, affiliation, and email ID of the photographer(s)

- Both camera and mobile photography are accepted. However, the images should be copyright-free and with a resolution of at least 300 DPI.

Style and Formatting Guidelines

All submissions should be in Word files. However, all images should be sent separately in JPG format or PNG format

The language for all contributions should be in English. Please use American spelling style throughout your writing

Use Bookman Old Style font for all texts

Title of the contribution should be in 14-point font, all headings should be in 12-point font, and all subheadings and text should be in 10-point font

Use headings and subheadings in a hierarchical order, in bold, and in initial capitals and lower case

The main body of the text should be single-spaced with one space between paragraphs

Italicize all foreign languages used and write the English translation or explanation in parentheses.

References

Follow the American Psychological Association (APA) referencing style for all in-text citations and bibliography. You can consult APA Formatting and Style Guide (7th Edition) to ensure appropriate referencing.

Publication Charges

Publication charge is only applicable for research/review article. If your article is selected for publication, there is a publication fee of BDT 5000/USD 50.

Plagiarism Policy

Please make sure your contribution conforms to the standard academic honesty practices. All attributions should be duly provided, and the text should be checked for plagiarism by the authors. Contributions having a high percentage of similarity and AI-generated text (more than 25%) will be rejected.

Review Policy

SIMEC Bulletin is committed to upholding the peer-review ethics and ensuring the highest quality of review. Upon receiving your contribution, if it is deemed suitable by the Editorial Board, it will go through a double-blind peer review process. The reviewers will be selected by the editorial board according to the subject of your contribution. You will be notified about the acceptance/rejection after the first review.
