A Roundtable Discussion on Mediated Bangladesh: Emerging Issues and Concerns

The SIMEC Research Center, SIMEC Research Center arranged a roundtable discussion to address the emerging issues and challenges of mediated Bangladesh on 21 December 2024 at Foara Yasmin Seminar Hall, SIMEC Institute of Technology, Uttara, Dhaka.

Dr. Abdul Aziz, Lecturer, Monash University Malaysia, and Dr. Ratan Kumar Roy, Assistant Professor, BRAC University, and Director, SIMEC Research Center jointly moderated and Dr. S M Shameem Reza, Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Dhaka University chaired the roundtable discussion. Dr. Md. Towfique E Elahi, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science & Sociology, North South University; and Md. Daloar Hossain, PhD Candidate at the Department of International Relations, South Asian University, New Delhi, India were the main speakers of the discussion. The engaging discussion brought out the compelling issues such as the wave of misinformation, virality of negative and unproductive content, cross-border media tensions, public diplomacy and the importance of media literacy and fact-checking practices.
